狗不理包子（steamed buns）诞生于150年前的天津。有位名叫狗子的年轻人，在一家包子店做伙计。学了三年后，自己单独开了一家包子店。由于他的包子做得好吃，生意兴隆，来吃包子的人越来越多。有人等的时间长了，就喊他，他因为忙着做包子，无法答应。后来人们就称他的包子为“狗不理”。这个怪名字把他的包子名声弄得更大，这个名称一直叫到如今，成了天津的老字号（old-brand name）。
